Location

Helsinki, Finland

Concept

The building is inspired by two shapes: the natural monumentality of an iceberg, and the elegant shape of the whooper swan, Finland’s national bird. The inner space is a gallery for contemporary art, covered by a translucent lean-to roof which comes to life through a grid of fine woods; the outer space connects and distributes flows between the main pier and the city, while the building stands as a welcoming beacon on the shoreline.
